St Benedict Parish and Coonley Anti Racism group celebrate Juneteenth

On Saturday June 18th, Pathways Toward Peace, St Benedict ministry focused on interrupting racism and raising awareness regarding inequality and the Coonley Anti Racism group collaborated and hosted a Juneteenth event. Juneteenth is a day set aside to celebrate freedom. The day was focused on promoting Black owned businesses and business owners and celebrating Black culture. This was the first celebration of Juneteenth hosted in our community. We are grateful for the support from many and especially from our St Ben HSA.

Shalita Ativie was our M.C. and lead us through the day. We enjoyed the Rose of Sharon Gospel Choir, zumba with Gigi, double-dutch and games with E’A Williams as Thug Hippie, hair braiding by Loveta, horse back riding with Murdock, the Jesse White Tumblers, BBQ from Mae’s Q House and the Awesome Almondo as DJ.
